Hey star-gazers! You know that we pull out the popcorn for ingresses given their reputation for making a splash, but fixed-sign SMRs (sun/moon/risings) have reason to celebrate this week. The Nodes of Fate, which have likely been hammering many “fixies” since they entered Taurus and Scorpio back in January 2022, are finally making tracks, sliding into cardinal air and fire, where your next-door modal neighbours may be reaching for their support blankets.
Although I covered the high points of the upcoming nodal shift in a dedicated blog post, I will put cardinal placements on high alert, raising the DEFCON levels, and urging you all to be at the ready for major fated events that could pull your sense of direction, identity, personal desires and relationships with others into the forefront. With one last Taurean eclipse on the horizon at the close of October, our collective karma is shifting; it’s time to take stock, take charge, and take responsibility for the future that we want to create.
We begin the week of July 9 under the authority of a rebel Luna in Aries. Sextiling Vesta in Gemini, there’s an element of courage and a firebrand spirit, which can help us assert ourselves in the face of too many inputs coming at us in the areas of home, hearth and relationships.
This energy could be compounded by the pile up of planets in Leo. Mars and Pallas Athena are nearing a partile conjunction, while Venus hovers a few degrees behind. This planetary assembly suggests a swiftness and strategic bent to interpersonal relationships, which many could find beneficial. If you’re courting a new paramour, this is seems like a fun, buoyant and flirtatious constellation, though Mars and Venus don’t actually meet up in a partile conjunction this year which could say something about long-simmering romances and delayed HEAs.
If you’re feeling yourself pulled in a million directions on Sunday, then the Mercury-Neptune trine could help you slow down and let things simmer, while the Moon’s applying conjunction to Chiron late in the day might invite a moment of quiet reprieve of coming home to ourselves.
On July 10, Mercury in Cancer opposes Pluto in Capricorn, standing in stark contrast to the Neptunian trine of the previous day. This aspect could have us cogitating intensely, or verbally sparring with authority figures who may be saying no to our ideas. The Moon-Eris square could echo this energy as we feel the emotional fallout of discordant experiences that challenge our confidence.
Mars also enters Virgo on July 10, marrying word and deed in a period where we can all follow through on the actions that we’ve been striving to undertake for quite some time. Mars has minor dignity in earthy Virgo, with the cool dryness of earth helping to take the edge off its fiery temperament. Between now and August 28, this could be a more methodical and considerate Mars; more deliberate in its actions and a little less impetuous, which is a great signature for implementing the Mercury-in-Taurus ideas we might have had in the spring.
Upon entering Virgo, Mars immediately trines the Node of Fate, making its exit from the sign of Taurus. This signature could be ripe for fated actions concerning money matters, seeing you take charge of your bank account and cash flow in new and more mature ways. As the Moon enters Taurus in the evening, we could be finding more emotionally fulfilling and stabilizing solutions to anything that is bothering us.
Mercury enters Leo on Tuesday, immediately squaring the Node of Fate and lighting up the lunar point. Expect your communications to feel positively empowered and aligned with your inner purpose. A sudden brashness and inner resolve could overtake you, while courage will be needed to speak your truth and advocate for your desires. A particularly beneficent moment may align with the Moon’s conjunction to Jupiter in Taurus around the dinner hour, potentially seeing you reap instant benefits from your bravery.
On July 12, hold onto your hats because the Nodes move into Aries and Libra. This will be a significant movement for all of us as topical and thematic emphases in our natal charts move into the axes ruled by the ram and the scales.
We already had a taste of this signature back in April, catching the trailer when the eclipse series kicked off in Aries. Now, the energy begins to steady and the longer unfolding of fated changes are taking place, particularly for cardinal angles and for anyone with major cardinal placements.
That same day, a Sun-Chiron square in cardinal water and fire could have us figuring out how to change our emotional outlook. While old doubts and fears about our path and identity could resurface, we nevertheless have the opportunity to change tack as the Moon applies to a conjunction with Uranus around lunchtime (EDT). Not only might we feel the frisson of unpredictable energy, but we may be more inclined to break old emotional habits holding us back.
Although July 13 is free from major partile aspects, the Moon’s ceaseless journey brings it into the sign of Castor and Pollux where we could find ourselves craving good friends and great conversation. Use the conducive energies to stimulate your mind as well as your soul by getting out with your bestie and catching up over a pint.
A positive signature on July 14, could have us feeling forcefully independent and shockingly empowered as the Sun in Cancer sextiles Uranus in Taurus.
Uranus has been lending a lot of volatile energy, both good and bad, during its stay in the sign of the bull. On the one hand, hard aspects to this planet may have seen us battling against entrenched ideas around comfort and security, while more pleasant celestial configurations could have invited inspiration, sudden reversals and changes of current course for our highest good.
As the Sun scoots into a pleasant sextile, the aspect is ripe for serendipitous events that restore our faith in the benevolence of the universe.
The week comes to a comforting close with Luna’s return to its home sign, gearing up for its rebirth next week as it applies to a co-present Sol. Its late-day sextile to Pallas and Mars in Virgo could have us thinking strategically about emotional matters, particularly anything cropping up on the home front. As this energy builds into next week’s New Moon, Juno’s presence here could bring matters pertaining to marriages and partnerships into the spotlight.
