By Jove, I think we've got it! - The Astrology of June 2025*

I haven’t decided how I feel about Saturn entering Aries yet. Granted, it’s brief. Later this summer, Saturn re-enters Pisces on its retrograde sojourn — a final reckoning with everything I’ve hated about its transit and a much-needed peace-making with its lessons. On the first day of June, in the late-spring sunshine, Kronos will have crept quietly into the vernal sign, hovering around 0°29', breathing in the chaotic fumes of shape-shifting Neptune.
On the one hand, I wonder if we might feel some reprieve? Personally, I struggled with Saturn and Neptune in Pisces. As these planets transited my sixth house, squaring the domicile ruler in its natal position, so much of my storyline consisted of swimming upstream. Discipline and focus felt tenuous despite my desire to crank things out at an exhausting pace. Yes, I forced myself to produce even when I was distracted — I wrote, I blogged, I undertook mammoth projects that felt larger and more intimidating than a cargo ship — but after countless hours invested, I feel like I barely netted any meaningful gains. Sure, there were tangible outputs and yet I didn’t feel as if I had made any progress.
I realize that can be Saturn’s bag; it’s the planet of the grind, the Seven of Pentacles, the Three of Swords, the Eight of Cups, the Ten of Wands, the Devil. These are the Tarot cards that fill me with dread when I pull them, bracing me for heartache, regret, burden, and toil. Maybe it’s my glass-half-empty default — the conditioned pragmatism of a jaded millennial — but rarely do I think of the World-card's karmic endings that we confront as Saturn moves into a new zodiacal sign, nor do I search out the Five of Wands-like hope for triumph after adversity (and without the victories that often seem Pyrrhic at best). After all, so much of Saturn’s recent transit feels like I lost more times that I won (yeah, that screams Five of Wands).
Saturn in Aries isn’t a particularly constructive placement for the planet. Show me anyone with heavy Aries placements that wants to wear black, take things slow, rigidly adhere to every rule and regulation. In fact, Saturn in Aries strikes me as the futile-feeling parent of a rebellious teen: Saturn will want to say no, but remains powerless in the face of Martial resistance. We’ll do whatever we want, rules and reality be damned!
Still, there’s a part of me that wonders how beneficial this placement might be for me (and perhaps for others?), relieving me of its weight? In my chart, I’m sure its angularity will help mitigate its debility, potentially directing its focus to my one-to-one relationships, bringing structure and commitment. But, how many of us crave its debility? How many of us might secretly want to see it fall? How many of us might want to experience the unfettering of the planet that emphasizes what we should do, how we should restrict ourselves, curtail our actions and impulses, and pursue what seems collectively sanctioned rather than individually craved?
I’ll be keeping a careful eye on Saturn between now and mid-July, noting how, in Jupiter’s more benefic bounds, it could confer some cosmic benefits. More importantly, however, I’ll be interested in seeing how the pressures on sixth-house endeavours let up and whether I won’t be recovering a modicum of stability now that the planet of structure has taken the scattering tendrils of sea-sweeping Neptune with it.

The Astrology of June
Despite my heavy take on Saturn, June is full of upbeat energy. The stars are turning up the volume in a good way — the cosmic orchestra is poised for smooth transitions and bold overtures, amplifying our enjoyment of the first weeks of summer.
June 4: Venus in Aries Sextiles Jupiter in Gemini
I don’t often pay much attention to sextiles. Don’t come for me in the comments — it’s just one of those transits that don’t feel like they pack a punch. Theory aside, I always feel like they’re pleasant, but not necessarily replete with the character-forming friction of a square or the clawing transformational potential of an opposition. Still, when two benefics meet up, it’s an event worth writing about.
This is one of those golden-glow days that feels like the cosmos is smiling down on us. Witty, charming, easy, and optimistic, a split-second decision could have us saying “yes,” to an invitation, paying an uplifting compliment, or taking a well-timed risk in love, creativity, or finances.
June 6: Venus Enters Taurus; Squares Pluto in Aquarius
Cue the fanfare, Venus comes home. Sensual, secure, and radiantly grounded, much of this transit can be about indulgence. It’s the transit that encourages us to slow down after the assertive and sometimes exhausting advocacy that Venus had to do in Aries. However, its initial ingress may not be as light-hearted as we can expect later. Upon its ingress, Venus squares Pluto — an aspect that perfects on June 9. Under this intense sky, love, desire, and value come face-to-face with something deeper and more demanding. What we want may confront what we fear, emotions intensify, and we can be tugged into a vortex of obsessions, jealousy, power plays, or compulsions — especially in relationships, finances, or self-worth.
But this isn’t just about drama. It’s about revealing what’s beneath the surface — a truth, a desire, a wound — so that it can be transformed. Venus in Taurus craves peace and security, but Pluto in Aquarius pushes us out of our comfort zones, compelling us to question outdated attachments or false stability. This can be a prelude or a turning point: an opportunity for a deeper commitment, an invitation to let go of something that’s undermining our worth. Relationships demand emotional honesty and for the next few days, we need to buckle up for the intensity before we can breathe again.
June 8: Mercury conjunct Jupiter in Gemini
Jupiter is on the edge: a precipice, a breakthrough, a final chapter. One last hurrah before the cosmic daddy enters Cancer and we all enjoy twelve months of benefic blessings in the area of our lives under the dominion of the crab.
For some of us, wrapping up the transit of Jupiter debilitated in Gemini might be a blessing in itself. Unless this sign happens to be angular or corresponding to one of the beneficial houses in our charts, we may have encountered varying degrees of frustration. Stillborn ideas, big plans that defied granular roadmaps, and concepts that seemed better in the confines of our mind than shared with nay-sayers intent on bringing us back to reality.
In a way, this is what the anaretic, or 29th degree of a sign, can feel like: culmination, ending, yet tinged with a kind of electricity or urgency that can make a last-minute decision seem like it has life-altering potential behind it. As Mercury conjoins with Jupiter, we may receive a surprising and even beneficial message, or be asked to settle on a quick decision or action. Mercury in Gemini doesn’t drag its feet.
June 8–9: Mercury Enters Cancer, Jupiter Enters Cancer, Squares Saturn; Venus in Taurus Squares Pluto in Aquarius
As the celestial messenger speaks to us in dulcet tones, our words now carry empathy, intuition, and memory. From the mental gymnastics of Gemini, we can plunge into the comforting depths of our heart space, listening rather than speaking and bringing a deeply personal and relatable energy to our interactions over the next few weeks.
After Mercury slides into Cancer’s DMs, Jupiter follows suit, amplifying the side of us that seeks out and can be more nurturing, abundant and heartfelt. No matter what house corresponds to Cancer in our charts, we can expect positive growth, emotional wisdom, and soul-deep generosity. As Jupiter transits this sign over the next year, there are blessings to be had: things may finally seem like they’re going right in this area of our lives, opportunities can open up, and we might even catch a much-needed break.
Still, some of this radiant energy may be eclipsed by the immediate square to Saturn and Neptune in Aries and the intensification of Venus’ square to Pluto as this aspect perfects. In the coming days, we may need to seek out greater clarity and test our presumptions. As the pressure-cooker is released, we might feel more attuned to this positive boon in our lives.
June 11: Full Moon in Sagittarius (20°38’)
Under this Full Moon, a renewed search for truth, movement, and meaning may find many of us as the archer’s bow reminds us to have faith in our vision and to believe in something larger than our perceived limitations. As with most Full Moons, illumination is on the agenda; in this case, it may be finding a faith that we thought we had lost.
This plenilunium opposes Sol in Gemini — the luminary offering us a much-needed counterweight, calling for the balance between facts and wisdom, detail and imagination, conversation and conviction. Two weeks ago, I wrote about the power of the May 26 New Moon, noting that the malefics were sextiling it in an oddly supportive (rather than injurious) configuration that would have brought a certain urgency and solemnity to our intention-setting. At opposition, we are asked to confront the seeds we planted, checking in on their gestation, and tending to their needs which, in this case, may be all about going the distance. We may not see the road ahead, but, like an arrow, if we perfect our aim, the laws of the universe may see that the course is steered.
Although wide, Mars at 27° Leo forms a separating trine to the Moon, still lending its fire and drive. This adds a note of courage, passion, and performance to Full Moon. Fake it ’til you make it and trust in your words and deeds.
June 17: Mars Enters Virgo
Time to get things done and done well. Mars sharpens its tools, hones its skills, and gets down to business. Productivity, precision, and problem-solving take the lead throughout the balance of the month and into the first week of August, allowing us to work wonders and maybe even perform miracles. Every move has purpose and feels in sync not only with the rhythm of the cosmos but with the pace of our own lives. Clean out, fine-tune, and execute with exactitude.
June 20: Sun Enters Cancer
I feel like breaking out in song: “Here comes the Sun, little darling!” It’s a Sun that’s hot and happening and, in the Northern Hemisphere, graces us with the longest day to follow through with our heart’s desire. Inner illumination and emotional renewal are on the agenda as the Sun stands still, offering an annual spotlight on our well-being. How are we taking care of our inner sanctum? Have we nurtured and cared for ourselves in the way that we deserve? Is our purpose aligned with what’s best for us at a deep, core level?
I often use the solstice chart to gauge the larger collective energies for the year and the square to Saturn no doubt brings a renewed promise. If we go easier on ourselves, the rewards might still come, right? If we committed to being letting up and even having fun, maybe the longer-term gains are greater?
The moment of the Sun’s ingress into Cancer may invite contemplation and reflection. How can you steer the helm of your ship more profitably for the balance of the year? How can you find ways to nurture yourself without sacrificing your ambitions?
June 24: Sun Conjunct Jupiter in Cancer
Expect joyous fireworks. Expect a spotlight shone on emotional abundance. Make gratitude lists, embrace unexpected opportunities that align with your solar path. Light shines most where you need it and launching something deeply connected to your soul’s calling—to your highest hopes and dreams — may be warranted under this auspicious alignment.
June 25: New Moon in Cancer
The mantra of this lunation is no doubt root so you can rise. Cancer New Moons always invite a return to what’s essential: home, safety, belonging, and our hunger for emotional truth. We can often get a little misty under these lunations, recalling how far we’ve come, but also, no matter how hard we try, the places that we can’t return to.
This particular lunation is especially potent, seeded in the fertile soils of an exalted Jupiter just one degree away. Unlike the typical pull of the Cancer New Moon which can sometimes draw us inward, Jupiter pushes us to expand, whether its our sense of sanctuary, or the people, projects and dreams that nourish us deeply.
The Mars sextile can help this lunation feel grounded, giving a vitality and confidence to any new initiative we seed, especially if underpinned by Virgo’s efficient and service-driven outlook. Sometimes, it doesn’t have to be all about us and what we want; sometimes it’s about co-creation with friends, family, and community. This may be an ideal lunation under which to think about expanding our reach and bringing others into our nests.
I also appreciate that this lunation squeaks past the Saturn-Neptune conjunction in early Aries—a separating square. There’s a limiting influence on idealism and dreams, and potential for disillusionment inherent in this signature. The fact that this lunation flows away from it can be an important celestial sign that we're emerging from doubts, uncertainty and even emotional fog. Perhaps we can chock this up to the scales-falling-from-our-eyes quality of the Sagittarian Full Moon earlier this month reflected, but letting go of the harmful perceptions that have held us back may be a significant theme for this lunation as well.
June 26: Mercury Enters Leo
Like a grand finale, messenger Mercury enters Leo not with a whimper, but with a roar. Speak your truth, believe in what you say, and be relentlessly honest about it.
The astrological sign of Leo often gets roasted for its dramatic tendencies, like it’s constantly auditioning for the starring role. And what’s wrong with that? Shouldn’t we all get top billing in the moving picture of our lives? Too often, we can shrink into the background, accept last billing, or let others take the director's seat. As this entire month has brought hope, perspective and renewal, let the heart of the lion help you speak authentically and with flair.
