Weekly Astrology Forecast for January 9-15, 2023*-Make Yourself the Priority!

Hey, star-gazers! I hope the sky was kind to everyone last week, and that Venus’ sextile to Jupiter, as well as the Sun’s trine to Uranus brought auspicious blessings your way. If nothing noteworthy happened, don’t despair — this is another good week, with Uranus headlining moments of electricity, inspiration and a jolt of sudden awareness, while the asteroid goddesses are putting our emotional sacrifices under the microscope.

The flavour of the week is coloured by the Eureka influence that retrograde Mercury perfecting to a trine to Uranus could offer. On January 8, expect the Promethean planet to deliver unexpected shake-ups in matters pertaining to friends, younger siblings, and communications, but this can also be the transit for big, bold ideas and inspiration. Given that Uranus is hanging out in blingy Taurus, with all its cha-ching significations, sudden insights into novel ways of making a little extra cash could be on the table, which Mercury (in more practical and earthy Capricorn) could appreciate.

The asteroid of marriage and commitment, Juno, in Pisces will also be sextiling Pluto in Capricorn on January 8, which could portend to a deepening of our emotional ties. In Pisces — the sign of emotional depth, transcendence and union — Juno could be focused on affirming its romantic connections with a partner, while Pluto in Capricorn could significantly intensify this impulse. The key will be not to get too wrapped up with any nebulous feelings that Neptune in a loose conjunction to Juno could add to this transit, while Pluto could ultimately intensify illusory ideas around our romantic partnerships, the power dynamics in them, or their transformative potential.

On January 9, Venus trines retrograde Mars, making this a day for revisiting the way we communicate in our closest relationships. As Mars gears up to return to direct motion on Thursday, this may not necessarily be the transit for immediate and decisive action, but perhaps for measured contemplation of future undertakings.

Mars is gaining power as it approaches station, and in the last lingering days of its retrograde where we’ve been asked to slow down, think twice, and contemplate the actions that we want to take pertaining to communications, friends, siblings, skills and learning, this transit could be the wrap-up, plan-ahead moment that we’ve been waiting for. Use this transit to think about how you might put the balls into early motion later in the week, since Mars’ retrograde likely highlighted pressing changes that need to be made in the sector of your life under Gemini’s dominion. Take the events of January 9 in stride, focusing on how you’re interacting with those closest to you — including how you’re treated and how you feel about it — since this can offer further clues into how to harness the overhauls that Mars in Gemini is affecting.

Mid-week, expect an interesting energetic shift in your home life as retrograde Pallas Athena in Cancer trines Vesta in Pisces on January 10. Potentially echoing the Juno-Pluto aspect from earlier in the week, your emotions will take centre stage, with the nurturing impulse of Cancer shining a spotlight on home, hearth and family relationships. As Pallas is retrograde, you could spend the day considering the myriad ways that you have served your family and, perhaps, where you may have sacrificed your own well-being along the way. This is where Vesta in self-sacrificing Pisces comes in, and given that Pallas also gifts us strategy and focus, this could be one day where you take a time-out to consider if your own emotional needs are being met; if not, what changes are you prepared to make?

On Thursday, January 12, Mars turns direct and we can all breathe a temporary sigh of relief as the planet begins moving projects and ambitions forward. Mars has been retrograde since the end of October 2022, having first entered Gemini all the way back in August, so this has been an especially lengthy and perhaps slightly frustrating transit for many of us, particularly in the sector of our charts that Mars is currently transiting. While there could be a few bumps in the road over the next few weeks as Mars passes over the degrees that it had retraced while retrograde, this is the optimal time to put any ideas into action in the areas of skills, learning, communications, social media, writing and publishing, or networking.

On Friday, January 13, the Sun sextiles Neptune, making this an exceptional day for plotting New Year’s resolutions. Yes, I know I’m about half a month too late with this recommendation, but Neptune is direct in Pisces and the Sun is perfecting in a luxurious Venusian sextile, makeing this such a great day to buy a bunch of magazines and do some serious vision-boarding. This could also be an incredible day for channeled or intuitive insights from our meditation practices owing to the transcendent possibilities that Neptune offers.

All in all this is another decent week, even as Venus closes it out in a square to Uranus. Don’t get too concerned as most Venus transits tend to be quite pleasant, and even getting a little friction from Uranus may not be all that bad; if anything, this configuration could see you chomping at the bit for a much-needed shake-up in matters pertaining to your self-care routine, with could be a continuation of any insights that the Vesta-Pallas trine could have highlighted. Taken together with the preceding aspect between the Sun and Neptune, these could be an important few days for taking stock of the year-ahead, for considering how you want to manifest new beginnings, and where you might need to change-up the status quo to turbo-charge your dreams.
