Weekly Astrology Forecast for September 24-30, 2023*  –  Walking the Tightrope

Updated: Oct 4, 2023

As we slide into the last full week of September, the winter of our discontent may settle in early. Mars’s current cruise through the Via Combusta — the path of some of the crunchiest fixed stars in the firmament — may offer little constructive momentum. Opposing Chiron and Eris in Aries, both retrograde, expect the God of War to kick up more than a little dust as it struggles with give and take under more assertive asteroid influences in the days and weeks ahead.

Preparing for heightened volatility will be easier under the task-master Capricorn Moon. We may find ourselves getting back to basics — defining our priorities and making achievable to-do lists if only to manage our emotional angst. As the Moon meets up with intensifying Pluto, we could feel the pressure we’ve been placing on ourselves reach a critical mass. Don’t let the volcano erupt unless you’re prepared to deal with the fallout.

The Moon enters Aquarius at 7:30 PM EDT on Sunday night, shifting us from the grounded planes of material reality to the airy heights of abstract ideas. This mental energy may be especially pronounced on Monday, September 25, as a mutually applying trine between Mercury in Virgo and Jupiter in Taurus offers fresh perspectives on perennial problems.

The Moon makes its monthly rendezvous with Hygeia in Aquarius around 2:25 PM EDT on Monday. Reach for what comforts you and what may help cleanse accumulated negative energies as this transit invites an emotional reset. If the soundtrack of your mind has self-defeating thoughts on repeat, consider this the check and balance you need to refocus.

We head into work on Tuesday, September 26, under the an intense Lunar-Uranus square. The desire for freedom and rebellion may be briefly heightened as we refuse to colour within the lines. This may be less confrontationally managed by the Moon’s fleeting sextile to retrograde Eris in Aries, reminding us that asserting ourselves doesn’t always require an iron fist.

On the home front, tensions may be rising. A square between the Sun in Libra and Vesta in Cancer may see a few flames fanned. As we strive to find our way through the myriad demands that others place on us, the nurturing needs of loved ones may see the heat of the hearth ratcheted up to the boiling point. With the Sun applying to a conjunction with Pallas Athena, try to be strategic in responding to the many directions you may feel pulled in.

The Moon enters compassionate Pisces around 8:18 PM on Tuesday night. Upon its ingress, it immediately applies to a conjunction with retrograde Saturn, potentially making us feel more than a little isolated. While relief may come with Wednesday’s late-day Moon-Jupiter sextile, we may need to lean on the intuitive and empathetic energies of Pisces to navigate a more challenging sky.

On Thursday, September 28, rise and shine to a pleasant sextile between the Moon and retrograde Uranus. While the pull towards liberation may be more inwardly focused, we nevertheless could find ourselves drawn to more inspired action, helping us out of the doldrums.

At 1:53 PM EDT, the Moon conjuncts retrograde Neptune, sending our imaginations soaring. This aspect may be a panacea for the stress of the sky, supporting impulses towards positive escapism. The need to detach from current realities could have us temporarily unplugging from the world, while the Moon-Pluto sextile may urge us to do so in a more grounded way. By 8:18 PM EDT, the Moon slips into fiery Aries, bringing us back to reality.

Friday, September 29 sees the headliner Aries Full Moon take place around 5:57 AM EDT. The humanistic astrologer Dane Rudhyar tells us that the Full Moon brings illumination, fulfillment and revelation — messages from our creative spirit. This is the lunation that concretizes everything dark, nebulous or uncertain under the New Moons that preceded it both at the start of the lunar month (the New Moon in Virgo of September 15) and several months ago when the New Moon in Aries saw us seed individual, purpose-driven intentions. The Aries New Moon of April 20 was especially potent, doubling its influence under a solar eclipse, which brought necessary endings and new beginnings into our lives.

As this Full Moon brings two cycles to culmination, we may finally be presented with a clearing in our path, especially if we’ve been bogged down under the minutiae of the Virgo New Moon’s lingering influence. With Pallas Athena within orb of a conjunction to Sol, the strategic focus, and compelling problem-solving capacity of Mars’s sibling could lend us the precision we need to overcome issues that have had us stumped.

At the same time, Hygeia in Aquarius is stationing direct within a wide-orb sextile to the Moon. Its more powerful energy at this critical juncture could help relieve mental burdens and see an internal equilibrium restored.

The applying square between Juno, Venus and Uranus may also lend this lunation a relationship focus. As the kinetic and catalytic square perfects throughout the day, we may finally muster the courage to be bold, honest and heart-forward in our closest partnerships.

Saturday, September 30 ends under a bevvy of intense aspects. We’ll sip our morning coffee under the scrutiny of a Moon-Mars opposition, which could have us feeling as if our personal desires are subject to the whims and wills of others rather than firmly within our control. This sensation may be brief as Luna drifts towards a trine to Venus in Leo, momentarily reorienting our sense of personal power, courage and focus. Expect this reprieve to be short-lived as Luna forms conjunctions to retrograde Eris and the stationing North Node in Aries.

A square between the Moon and retrograde Pluto around the dinner hour could bring a percolating issue into the foreground. As we assert our personal will, potential power conflicts with the authority figures in our lives could see sparks of friction fly. Thankfully, the Moon slides into one of its preferred zodiacal placements by 9:18 PM EDT, benefitting from the weight of a Saturn sextile, which may help us regain perspective.
