Weekly Astrology Forecast for March 5–11, 2023* - A Big Week for Ending Karmic Cycles!

Hey star-gazers! The sky has an important announcement: Saturn is changing signs this week, closing the chapter on old karmic cycles in the areas of our charts under the auspices of the water-bearer.

Wherever Saturn has transited these past two-and-a-half years, we may have experienced restriction, limitation and even feelings of containment. Periodic pokes from rebellious Uranus by square likely amplified these feelings, urging us to break free from the status quo. As Saturn leaves this area of our lives, we may feel a corresponding relief or lightness, only to have the weighty planet of hard time and sometimes harder lessons initiate a new two-and-a-half-year Piscean period. The next few years could be ripe for lessons around emotional boundaries and iron will in the face of uncertain dreams.

Amidst the epic sign shift that Kronos will be making, prepare yourself for the return of the dreaded Mars-Neptune square — an aspect that I hold responsible for confusion, brain fog, bravado without substance, and a genuine feeling of losing grip on our scattered thoughts. Perhaps I’m projecting my own experiences onto this configuration, but there’s nothing pointed, strategic or crystal clear about dreamy Neptune duking it out with a Mars inhabiting Mercury’s domain.

Think about the condition of Mercury as the current master of Mars’ house; it’s triply debilitated in emotional Pisces, drowning in the massa confusa of a more spiritual, transcendent and touchy-feely place that just-the-facts Mercury slightly resents. All this Piscean energy — between stern Saturn sliding in for a watery dip, and the Sun and Mercury joining Neptune in its murky modern temple — can be difficult for any of us who may lack substantial water in our charts. So, take care this week as we gear up for a sometimes-uncomfortable confrontation with all that scares us on an emotional level.

The week begins with the Node of Fate in Taurus applying to a sextile with Mercury in Pisces, heightening the potential for a big idea concerning money matters to present itself. However, take caution to examine all perspectives and to scrutinize any opportunities that could arise, since Mercury can play tricks on us and under the Sun’s more debilitating beams its motivations are often more covert than usual. To top it off, Mercury is already in a sign where its usual analytical prowess is diluted by the tug of the instinctual and the emotional, so do your best to coax rationality out from whatever sentimental rock it might have crawled under.

Sunday, March 5, could be a prime day for continuing any healing that we might have initiated around our self-worth, inner beauty, and personal confidence. Although Venus is separating from its conjunction with Chiron in Aries, the orb of influence remains active and therefore ripe for us to consider where we may have historically doubted our own value. With the Moon in fiery Leo trining this configuration, it could be a great day to release a primal roar, recapturing a sense of our own personal agency and validating our inner desires. This energy could be echoed in the still-active Vesta-Jupiter conjunction in cardinal Aries, urging us towards a new passion project while Vesta’s desire for personal freedom and unbridled autonomy is amplified by the influence of expansive Jupiter.

On March 6, the Sun in Pisces sextiles Uranus in Taurus, and with Mercury still holding its sextile to the North Node, this day could offer up unexpected financial surprises. For some of you, this could correspond to a sudden luxury purchase or an unexpected encounter with a Taurean figure sent to shake-up the status quo; either way, this aspect could be a nice redux to follow up on the January trine that Sol formed with the Promethean planet, which could have sent us down a brand new path towards personal fulfillment.

In this subtler, more harmonious, and pliant aspect, we could also find an unexpected but beneficial event taking place that aids our life path by taking on the characteristics of beauty, creativity, or support for our material security. After all, sextiles in receptive signs do have that reputation of being more door-opening events that we only need to step-through, rather than sextiles in active signs, which require us to go after the opportunity with more fiery zeal.

Also worth noting is Hygeia’s ingress into Aquarius, potentially shifting where our preventative health emphasis may need to go for the balance of the year. Aquarius rules issues concerning blood and circulation, bone health, protection of our joints, and occasionally issues pertaining to our legs and lower extremities. Varicose veins, for instance, are an Aquarian issue, expressing Saturnian feelings of restriction in our present circumstances and a certain amount of resentment towards our individual situation. This is the transit that asks us to take a good, hard look at where we may be feeling repressed and restricted, not only by our circumstances, but potentially arising from our life choices as well. The next several months could be important for considering how we can metaphorically and literally circulate through life with greater ease and independence.

In a way, consider these aspects the calm before the storm because, on March 7, we get an astrological double-bill. First off, we have a tense Full Moon in Virgo to contend with, disposited by that triply-debilitated Mercury. The Moon in Mercury’s domicile could struggle with assimilating emotions, or find itself dealing with deep-seated or hidden issues that may be burning us up inside.

Although the Moon is separating from a trine to Uranus, there’s nevertheless a broadly erratic and unpredictable energy underpinning this lunation, leading to our feelings of worth, value, and security to be profoundly and unexpectedly uprooted as a result.

At the same time, both Pluto and Saturn are at the last degrees of their respective signs. In Saturn’s case, it will be at nearly 29 degrees, 59 minutes, suggesting that this Full Moon could also be critical in bringing certain matters in our lives to a much-needed close. Look to your individual chart and the houses on which you find Capricorn and Aquarius on the cusps; these areas will shine greater light on the final curtain call for the transformation of these life sectors. Some of you could experience endings to karmic cycles in career, public recognition, friends and social groups, or, alternatively, a necessary winding down of certain long-held hopes and dreams. Time to dream a new dream with Saturn and Pluto moving into new signs!

Later that day, Saturn will indeed move into Pisces, introducing a new energetic profile in our lives. The assembly of planets currently transiting through the constellation of the fishes will colour the balance of the month as the focus in our lives may shift towards redefining our emotional boundaries, rethinking our emotional health, recalibrating our hopes and dreams, and, with Saturn’s co-presence, asking us to do some deep, soul-searching work.

On March 11, two transits are worth noting for the potential benefits that they could bring. First, the Mercury-Uranus sextile could offer up some unexpected ideas, profound inspiration, or momentarily flashes of imagination, especially as you contemplate new opportunities from Saturn’s recent sign shift. Then, Venus in Aries sextiles Mars in Gemini, which could add a pleasant drive, determination, or committed articulation of our desires in relationships.

All in all, the second-half of the week is full of fire-cracker events that are setting us down a new path of profound personal transformation.
